Get involved
Together we can do this.
Whatever time, space or skills you have, there’s a way to help keep our neighbours in Brighton.
Offer a spare room
Could you offer a safe, welcoming room to a refugee for at least three months? A spare room can mean so much more than a roof over someone’s head.
Volunteer
From leafleting and social media to practical support for families, every pair of hands helps.
[Edit me: the roles you need most right now.]
Come to meetings and actions
Join coalition meetings, protests and community events. The more of us who turn up, the louder Brighton’s yes.
[Edit me: next meeting date, time and place, or “Upcoming dates are posted on our News page.”]
Donate

Do you have a spare room?
We are looking for people who can offer a safe, welcoming room to a refugee for at least three months.
Hosting can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Hosts and guests have formed close friendships, shared stories and recipes, discovered different cultures and, most importantly, helped someone find safety and stability at a difficult time in their life.
How it works
- Hosting is arranged through Refugees at Home, an organisation experienced in connecting refugees with people willing to host.
- Guests have £50 a week to cover their own living costs.
- Thousand 4 £1000’s Care & Support Group supports guests throughout their placement.
- There is no payment for rent. This is a spare-room hosting arrangement, not a rental.
- If a placement isn’t working, it can be ended. Guests also understand that hosting isn’t an indefinite arrangement.
All hosting arrangements are subject to our capacity as a volunteer-run organisation.
